What sort of pull should I be looking at for. Infrequent use and not bothered about speed just to have it there if I need it.

(I know this has been covered before but I cant find the thread)

As well as those unbranded winches on the marlet that you can pick up for around £300 those Tmax winches seem to be good value for your £

Jason and Sam have bought the KEW9000 (9000lbs) unbranded winches for a special show deal at £270 each - they have been ok aside from a sticky clutch lever.

the weight you should look for should be around 8500lbs+,    there is a calulation which is 1.5 times the gross weight of your car I think.

cheers Dave.

Saw a 7200lb winch going cheapish, guess it might do for a Jimny :-)

Keep your eyes on eBay, things like this can be found, with all the kit with the winch, then you only need a bumper!

There was a KEW8000 on there tonight that noone bid on it could have been got for £250!

I've got a GEW10000 that I got off eBay last year, arrived in a couple of days and not had any problems with it. Like you Bob, I only want it there for when it's needed, I'm not out every weekend doing winch challenge events so £320 worth was good enough for me.  :D

Goes without saying the link is to a 24volt model, make sure yours is a 12v version (presuming yours is a 12v model)

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

OOOPs
Note to self: Must pay more attention.

It would also seem that it's been removed as well now, not a good start!

Anyway, I got mine from http://www.c-n-buy.co.uk who advertise on eBay. I was also looking through LRM this afternoon and on page 158 there is an advert for MJA Landrover (01527 873058, if you can read that small!!) and they are advertising a Superwinch EPi9.0 & bumper kit for a 90 at £599 including VAT. No website and you need excellent vision to read the address.

There is a compamy in stourbridge that are selling "EWS 9000". Made in china and look suspiciously like a Warn. Going to pop over and take a look. They go for about £210 on ebay.

Just got to watch the power of the motors, although they may pull 9 or 10,000 lbs, ability to maintain the pull will be different depending on the output rating, (1.5 or 2kw for example)
