Not quite sure what you are asking as usually you fit a Gearbox between the Transfer Box and the engine??

Yes - but he asks will an SJ TRANSFER box fit to a Vit engine.

Does he mean:

(a) Will an SJ GEARBOX fit to the VIT engine
(b) Will an SJ TRANSFER Box fit to a VIT GEARBOX.

I suspect its (a) , but its not clear.

Didnt explain that very well did i

What i meant to say was that i want to put an sj transfer box on to my vit, is it possible to do a straight swap for the vit t box keeping the vit engine and gear box as standard

Hope thats better

in a word no

you have to remove the vitara t-case fit a blanking plate to the vit gearbox with a oil seal and bearing fab up a small prop
and then fab up mounts for the sj t-case
then you have the issue of making up a rear prop to cope with the angles that the sj t-case leaves you with

Cheers Simon,
do you have any sudgestions of how to stop an oil leak from the t box, i have just done a live axle conversion and it seems to be dripping from where the prop shaft goes into the t box
Cheers
Chris

hi chris
have you made the front prop to have a slip joint? else it will pull out of the t-case as its a solid one on a vitara front?

HI Simon,

That was my next try, i was going to use a sj front prop if its short enough, mated to the vit fitment, do you think this will sort it?

Cheers, Chris
