Cherokee 2.5TD axle ratio's
« on: March 09, 2009, 08:42:05 »
Hi,

Does anyone know the standard axle ratio's for the above? Thinking of buying one for parts and using the axles to lower the gearing as I now have 33" tyres on a 1993 4.0 Auto Cherokee XJ.

Thanks in advance Maf

I am prwetty certain they will be 3.73:1 these are only really suitable upto 31's on a 4ltr

you will struggle to pull 33's on them though,

you could do with 2.5 petrol ones 4.10:1's,

Not that this is a selling punn honestly but I do have pair of 2.5 petrol ones, looking for £250 for the pair

They are 3.73 on a diesel.

I swapped mine for 4.1's - now run 31's at stanard speedo reading.

For 33's you really need 4.1's - higher would be better but big money on set up of them

Thanks everyone for the info and advice.

Looks like it's clear, I need to get a 2.5 petrol for spares, I also need a screen, electric fan, tailgate, I don't wanna spend a fortune on an XJ that I smash up, so hopefully I can sell other parts to cover the costs...

Here are a couple of pics of the 33" tyres... (will also be using these on the Wrangler...)
