black smoke

today i changed my pistons,re ground the valves,fitted new seals,i now have loads of compression but when i reve the engine i get black smoke not loads but enough has any body got a clew what could be cousing it and how do i cure it?

Black smoke is generally overfuelling.

have you turned the pump up etc or is it all standard
just get muddy

by the looks of it its been turned all over the place by the previouse owner i had the pump timing set by a diesel fitter but since then i have changed the cam belt  and the timing was out before i started but now its spot on do you think it mite be the pump timing or pump settings.i know the pump has been messed whith there are screwdriver chip marks on the sliding section conected to the accelerator.

sounds like pump has been messed with i would try adjusting the pump but put marks etc on where you started from
just get muddy

even if sombody has a pic of the top of a set pump so i have a ruff guide that would help loads
