I've just ordered my new double cab roof kit!
« on: March 20, 2009, 13:18:40 »
Well I just wanted to share this with everyone, after falling out of love with my 110 CSW I decided in a fit of frustration on wednesday night to remove the roof and rear panels and door, I was planning to chop my roof down and just shortening it, but I was pointed in the direction of North Offroad as they have just starting to produce a panel to go on the back of a chopped down 110 van roof to make it into a double cab.

I should be finished tomorrow as it's on a Saturday before 12 delivery and it'll be fitted almost imediatly!

I 'may' be back in love with it.

Have you got any more details on that double cab kit? What does it involve, I can't find it on the website.

It's not on the website mate.

basically you chop the 110 roof down and join this with pop rivets and silcoflex or tiger seal.

Costs around £75 for the panel - which I don't think is too bad, around £9 carriage - although I copped it for a saturday delivery (23.33)

sounds good ,might look for a 110 to  convert ,always been a expensive option to have to buy genuine roof
thats if you could find one on ebay. :P

I used the north offroad piece on mine.

At £92 + vat it's a hell of alot cheaper than buying a proper one

Just my luck they've dropped the price!!

I didn't put mine together, if I had I'd have rushed through it and probably missed something vital.

And friend of mine owns a body shop near Canterbury & did all the good stuff. As far as I know he didn't discover too many problems.

I just sourced all the parts and decorated it afterwards. I'm very happy with the result and it didn't cost me £10.000!

Well I'm finished.

Start to finish - about 3 hours :)

Although I am now planning a full repaint of the truck so I've not painted the roof panel yet. but it looks fine, I've fibre glassed the rain channels where they join together to get a smother join, but I'll tidy this up when i take the roof off again for the re-paint.

Got any photos yet? lol

I found out over the past couple of months that due to having only half a headlining I'm getting quite a bit of condensation.

Rang up Guy Salmon and the rear section is £290

Something to add to my wish list! lol

Fug!

Northern off road are considering doing a DC fibreglass headlining.

I have my own plans so I'll keep that quiet until I get it sorted  :afro:

I rang around quite a few companies. Liveridge, Foley, Lassale plus a few others.

Lassale said they were considering making their own but all the others told me they couldn't get any. :'(

The plan is mate to use the 110's CSW headlining as far as possible then to the curve of the rear section of the roof, then create an 'L' shaped box that can house a couple of 6x9's in the roof and maybe a map pocket.

I get bored to be honest mate, and i was never really happy with an off road CSW 110, it's just too big to be usefull, now I've shortend the cab everything is so much more visable and the load be id actually usefull.

It's a bit rougher in the flesh than the pictures show, but it's only a base coat, I'll sand it all off again over summer and give it 2 or 3 thinner coats and it should be quite nice.
