It the one day in the year that larger shops must close - is that really a hardship?Easter Sunday and Christmas Day are the only two proper religious holidays we have in the UK: Should we abolish the Christmas holiday too, because people want to go to Tesco?
Most parts of Europe don't have our 24/7 culture, and shops are closed in the evenings, half-day Saturday, closed all day Sunday. The result? More time to relax and enjoy life instead of rushing around trying to cram in as much as we can.
