Fuel Pump

Where abouts is the fuel pump on a 3.9 rangie?

I know on a 3.5 it was in the tank, but dont know if its the same on a 3.9?

Basically the petrol doesnt work on my rangie, only lpg and i would like to rectify this!

No access plate which is annoying, cos one of the nuts that holds the tank up is shagged as well, so going to get me one of them sockets that will go one any nackered nut and turn it, then drop the tank, then check to see if it works, and replace as necessary lol

Make you own!! i did! Measure it up, grab the air chisel, Piece of metal cut to fit screw in place! Job done!! Saves mucking about with rotten nuts and bolts underneath and if it ever broke again no messin!  :dance:

If its never been looked at then chances are there will be enough corrosion around the rear floor that all you need to do is undo the rear seat belt to chassis tie bolts and the rest may just lift out :lol:

Apart from the seat belt tie down bolts the rear floor over the fuel tank is just help in place by a load of pop rivets. If the haven't corroded off then they can be drilled out from above. Its not the quickest way, but possibly the neatest and could well improve the state of your floor. If you have time with the floor out then inspect and apply some paint to the rear of the chassis while you can from above.

You should be able to check the fuel pump without removing the tank.  Most LPG systems will keep the pump running and use emulators to fool the system into thinking the injectors are working.  You should be able to hear/feel the fuel pump running.  If it is shot then I would suggest maing an inspection hole to gain access to the pump from above rather than drop the tank.

As above, take the petrol cap off and stick your ear next to it, not sure if you need to turn the engine over on the 3.9 (3.5 airflow meter starts pump)

3.9 is the same. Turn the dashboard lights on and the fuel pump will kick in.
