Defender brakes

The brakes on my 98 90 weren't very good, rears didn't work at all so changed the calipers new pads now they work but poor overall , so changed front disks, pads, and calipers , no air in the system as brakes are at the top and hard , still nowere near as good as they were a year ago . Can anyone give me any idea were to go from here as the bill is mounting up, on first name terms with Paddocks

I have got the same experience as you bud, so when you find out let us know. I had drums on the rear, so i changed the axle to discs & i have changed the front discs and pads on friday but they still aint great. Would the brake servo make a difference?? Or a fluid change??

i had a leak on the brake vac pipe so effectivly i was brakin with next to no servo had a new master an servo fitted an complete flush of all brake fluid with new an now it will stop instantly  :lol:

update ! pinched the servo off my mates landy same model , no difference, checked the vacume both felt the same. the only thing left is the master cylinder and the equlizer valve, anyone had trouble with the valve , can't see any reason in changing the master as there's no leaks unless anyone knows different .

Hi there, got a minor problem with my 110. I was testing my brakes and all seemed fine but when i parked up i noticed brake fluid all over the inside of the tyre. Had a friend take a look and whenevr i punch the breaks i get a shot of brakefluid from between the calipers, now ive taken them apart and cant help but notice that inside the caliper there is a recess which looks like it should hold some type of gasket but there was none there just wondering if thats what im missing or if it's something else. Cheers guys
