Break problem's
« on: May 07, 2009, 07:46:46 »
Hi there, got a minor problem with my 110. I was testing my brakes and all seemed fine but when i parked up i noticed brake fluid all over the inside of the tyre. Had a friend take a look and whenevr i punch the breaks i get a shot of brakefluid from between the calipers, now ive taken them apart and cant help but notice that inside the caliper there is a recess which looks like it should hold some type of gasket but there was none there just wondering if thats what im missing or if it's something else. Cheers guys

why do all the manuals say do not split a brake caliper apart? Probably not something you should do willy nilly.

Anyhow....possible it is a missing an o-ring/rubber seal.

Hi,

the manual states not to split the caliper, friends warned me not to do it either. But I did and luckily I had a brake caliper overhaul kit that included the piston seals and ring, plus the little "o" ring for inbetween the calipers. My 2.5NAD now has decent brakes !

Ah forgot to mention I also put the caliper halves into the dishwasher to clean out all of the Mud/fluid that was in them !
