Mondeo gearbox/ engine change
« on: May 12, 2009, 07:26:48 »
Has anyone ever swapped a mondeo engine+ gearbox from an automatic to a manual?  I have a donor car, a 1998 1.8 manual mondeo and my car which is a 1997 2.0 automatic estate. If anyone has ever done it, or knows roughly how long it will take, any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

i was going to do this with an auto mini but by the time i got the parts i was too much money, but as you have a donor it should be alot easier, just copy the removal from the donor backwards into yours. i would suggest step by step from one to another, rather than ripping it all out of the donor then headscratching to remember how/where the part came from

could have trouble insuring it after
you need to drop the subframe with the eng and box on then change the pedal assembly and gear linkage and mod the starter wirering then put eng and box back in and dont forget to line up the subframe to the body there are 2 holesat the rear  to locate it all you need is a long socket to go through the subframe hole into the body
