« on: May 12, 2009, 18:24:13 »
Have a bit of a puzzle for the mathematical minded person

I need the lengths of b to c and a to c and just cant get my head in gear....... :oops: :oops:

I have used more than 1 method and confused myself...... :doh: :doh:

The numbers in the corners are degrees 8-[

Also no longer got a Zeus book  :-.

Calculate AC

                     Sin C = Opp/Hyp
                     Sin 42 = 3050/AC
                     AC = 3050/Sin 42
                     AC = 4558.15

Calculate BC

                    Tan A = Opp/Adj
                    Tan 48 = BC/3050
                    BC = Tan 48*3050
                    BC = 3387.37

Hope that helps

Oh and for future reference

An even easier solution can be found here... if this has worked... there should be a "Triangle Solver"

http://www.poodwaddle.com/

However, I bow to the mathematical genius who can still use Sine, cosine & Tan rules... I used to be able to... but it's been a while...

Dont make a outdoor staircase for a first floor flat ....... 3050 is the height of the door bottom and 42 degrees is the max steepness of the staircase by building regs  ;) and keeps the length BC to a minimum.
