200 tdi turbo
« on: May 12, 2009, 21:51:32 »
Im getting a rather horrible noise when the turbo kicks in, it sounds as if the bearings have gone in the turbo unit.
I have given the vain's a wobble and there is a little play but not a lot.
It sound kind of like the barings are dry, but as far as i can tell there is fresh oil at the oil feed pipe.....I'm now a bit stuck at what to do next.

Now should there be any movement, or am i right in thinking its on its way out?

Can i change the barings?

Is a the disco unit similar enough to put on my defender manifold?

i had a similar noise and it turned out to be a split air hose from the intercooler

I'd check all your inlet hoses 1st

blown inlet gasket also causes a horrable screech and a distinct lack of power
