Scouse,

Bad news I'm afraid. Land Rover redesigned the hubs in a psectacular way on the change to Td5.. as a result... the whole hub has to go...!

Sorry mate

hi all thanks for the replys and offers. but i hav took it to a 4x4 mechanic today he has looked it over for me and he said the wheels bearing and discs ar good. he had it on the ramps and said nothin wrong with it so that it must just b some play in the pads but nothin major thankfully. but to save me starting a new thread he drove it for me and thinks the drowning noise that am gettin wen i drive is the diff starting to go but said best wait til it gets worse to b sure but i am ment to b driving to anglesey tomor. i am a bit nervous if it will just go bang or break my gearbox or something it does still drive smoth tho but could it just go back at any time any info pls plus anywhere that does recondtioned diffs am a bit nervous of buying off ebay incase am buying another problem

Not sure what diff is in the TD5 but if you have a screeeching on corners I'd suggest you take the pads out, scrape them with an old chisel and put them back, it's probably a loose bit of metal flake in the pad just catching as the hub floats slightly on the bearing as it's meant to.  Either that or a smear of copper slip on the back of each pad and check the callper pistons are all ok.
