MPG
« on: May 24, 2009, 11:35:30 »
just wondering what every 1 is getting MPG wise for people running a 3.1TD mine is only getting 25 around town and 27 on the motaways and when its cold if chucks out loads of black smoke that soon turns to grew and William 127 suggested my fuel pump might be set to high causing bad mpg and the smoke when cold.
Cheers Phil

Your getting 25 round town and 27 on the motorway?  That's exeptionally good for the 3.1

Low 20's is a common figure.

You've not ever pressed the cold start button have you? That'll cause smoking issues when the valve in the exhaust jams shut.

I'd check your maths. You can't get 33 from a 3.1

Yeah the pic of an engine with a coil above it iirc.  Dont ever use it and it's worth looking at the exhaust under the drivers door and checking that the valve hasn't jammed.
