Hub oil seal inner, Double lip type
« on: June 06, 2009, 20:09:15 »
Hi all,

I have a 88 series and need to replace inner hub seal N/S and O/S, is Part number RTC3511 a good bet and would it fit as its double lip?  :-k   or should I fit Part number, RTC3510 that is standard, i think?  8-[

Regards

It depends on the year of your motor, the design of the stub axle changed in 1980 hence the change in oil seals.
RTC3510 is up to 1980, for stub axles with a replaceable bearing spacer.
RTC3511 is for 1980 onwards, for stub axles with the integral bearing spacer.

Good question.  I've never seen the later type stub axle, I'd guess that the lack of any sort of gap between the bit the inner wheel bearing runs on and the stepped up bit that the hub oil seal runs on.

OK, the RTC3510 seal is the one that fits, the RTC3511 is smaller!

Thing is...      I'm not sure what way round to put the seal in     Please anyone advise  [-o<
