Another Pick up Disco

This is the build progress of my build of a pick up disco.



First it was shiny is, this was my disco just before i got my dirty mits on it.



With some tiny little pram wheels and a 2" sus lift I started to play.



With the addition of Grizzly Claws i found a whole new way to get stuck, digging down.



OOOOOO, Simex and a bit more in the world of sus modifications, 3" with dropped top mounts



Then i got bored, and the first toy i could find was a grinder. humm, i now have a big spoiler, hehehe.



Thats the roof brought forward a bit but now need to sort out the rest of the body work.



Shortened and missing 16" from the chassis.



Kind of finished, still missing a rear floor and a number plate, these and a few other things were added soon after but unfortunatly i dont have any pics of these from the back.



2nd outing in the modified disco, this was the moment just before i flooded the engine.



Just after flooding the engine. this is why i have started the other post about a snokel on the cheep.

All the work making the pick up was done for a price in the region of £300, had loads of help from the guys in the IOM4x4 Club providing welding help and tons of advice through our forum (www.4x4.im). I also begged, stole and borrowed any thing i could to help get it finished, since these pics i have filled in a few more of the holes and started painting the back blue to cover the red oxide.

I will add anything else as it happens, sorry for such a long post.

oh dear should have put a snorkal on .or went round another way rather than go through the water .i guess its an engine rebuild now then best of luck

engine was fine, took the top hose off the intercooler and turned the engine over on the key, once running rev the but off it and the turbo blows all the water out of the intercooler. Luckly there was one of the many agricultural mechanics that the club has on hand and gave all the advice. She smoked a bit after but now runs fine. I have had a few problems with the engine in the past, head went and once i got a quote of £800 to have a garage to do it, i got out the haynes manaual and did it my self. Didnt quite get it right and 3 months down the line it went again. again did it myself this time with getting the head skimmed, again must not have got it right and 3 month, yes you got it, it went again. This time i got some help and they told me the haynes manual wasnt totally correct when it tells you how to blead the raditor, and with that bit of help, sorted, touch wood it hasnt gone since then. No the head gasket hasnt gone but the timing belt snapped bending 6 push rods about 1 month later. sorted this myself too. in total these repairs cost about £150 which saved me a lot of money and i now know how to fix things. having never taken anything to bits before it was a steep learning curve but now i am willing to give owt a go.

Living on the isle of man getting stuff here can be a right pain, but having seen your guide for building the rock rails i will prob be giving them a go a some point.
