MOT Fast Pass Emission Test - Compression Ignition
« on: June 23, 2009, 14:13:08 »
Anyone explain to me the difference between a fast pass and a normal emission test?

My TD5 was tested last year and passed ok, this year it passed again but the emission sheet states fast pass.

Look at the MOT referance on the web, it would seem to suggest the upper limit for a turbo desiel is 3m, the difference to me seems to be that the fast pass is set to 1.5m and is an instant reading vs the average of six readings for the 3m limit?

Anyone shed any light on this for me

Cheers

The fast pass is intended to avoid revving the living daylights out of the engine, if it passes fast pass then less noise, less fumes for the tester and less grief for the engine.

Thanks for the feedback Guys - I have been amazed at what differance a shot of Morris injector cleaner has had, my pass last year was straight forward, but with much higher emission. A service about three months ago and a shot of this cleaner as taken a third off my recorded emissions - This will certainly be the approach I take in the future
