Whats the point???
« on: July 31, 2009, 21:34:27 »
I order things off the web and pay extra for recorded delivery...... for peace of mind

When said mail order items arrive, my partner and myself are at work.... ok so a trip 1/2 mile to the sorting office I think...

WRONG..... the (expletive) postman takes it upon himself to sign for it and leave it, all day and in full view to passers by, beside the dustbin in showery weather

ROYAL MAIL ARE CHEATING LYING EXPLETIVES

now thats off my chest.....aah that feels better  ;)

ours is brill he will try to get parcels through the window, as he knows my wife cant get to the door quickly thro ill health.

The temp we have is a plank, taps on door, starts dogs barking then goes before my wife can get the dogs out of the way and answer the door; which then means i have to wait till the next day before i can go to the post office and collect it, as they insist on you NOT collecting parcels for at least 24 hours.

Yep, mine are fine too. Usually get a bottle of wine of me at Christmas and Im allways nice to the delivery divers. Means I get my stuff delivered and they take the trouble to find me if im round the back of the garden etc. Same with the binmen. But I understand its different in different places.

Ours used to be great. They used us as a drop-off point for mail for a while (posties would leave an empty bag and collect a full one) so they evidently considered it safe enough to leave other people's mail. This ended when they built a locker up the road to do the same job, and at the same time they seem to have had a crackdown on leaving parcels. It's pretty quiet here, and parcels would be quite safe, but they keep leaving cards.

What's worse, they've not only insisted that you wait 24hrs but also moved the collection point from the office around the back to the main counter. So now you have to fight through all the "special" people the place seems to attract!

Ouors are great, if I get one of the regular ones I don't even need ID at the sorting office, they sometimes forward to the post office without me having to ask either which is great as that is open in the afternoon.

As for signing himself, that's an offence of some description

A little unfair as I never met him  :-k

Any of my neighbors will sign for things and hold them till I get home, I do the same for them when I see the independant delivery vans, so the only person left to sign is the postie

Isnt it amazing that we all pay the same price but the quality of service differs so much

It's all down to individuals, of course. It's easy to blame the Post Office when it's actaully only a single employee.

We rarely get anything delivered to the house other than routine mail. The postie's delivering to work are always friendly and we've never had any problems. They know my wife works round the corner, so if she's not in they will drop the mail with us. We prefer that to driving 7 miles each way to the sorting office.

As for the leaving of registered mail...... it rather defeats the object, doesn't it? He/she shouldn't have done that.
