Billing was looking fantastic this morning with the dew dampened grass glistening in the early sun...
Frankie-Boy and I were having a little chat last night about the efforts that are put into organising any event such as this - particularly when the ultimate aim is to raise funds for the Air Ambulance.
We are fortunate in having Mud Club to share knowledge, quips and frustrations... all of which is free and supported by the profits of the club shop and the generous support of a few members who hit the 'donate' button at the bottom of the page but with around 7,000 active members, there are still an awful lot of people who aren't making it to Billing for the Birthday Bash!
Now, some will live zillions of miles away, involving four weeks travel by Series 1, and some will almost certainly be lying under something with weld spatter on their arms but there are two main aims for the weekend... enjoy yourselves and raise funds to support the Air Ambulance.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, enjoy it! Good on yer!
What we also want you to do is think about helping with the fund raising bit...
Given that the M25 was closed this morning (in order to allow the Air Ambulance to land...), this is a timely reminder that we all go off to work or on holiday and that there is a 'service' out there that we all hope never to use and yet saves lives every day by delivering medical attention at the point of most need.
Please... I know times are hard, but a couple of pints over the weekend will cost you the wrong side of a fiver... It would be really nice if we could add to whatever is raised over the weekend with a few extra donations and, to use the Tesco advert, "every little helps!"
Please could you PM me (or 90Mike or Frankie-Boy) if you could do something by way of a donation and we will sort out who can take in cheques (payable to WNAA) and forward them to the Air Ambulance folks and respond with news.
£5, £10, whatever you can offer - every donation keeps things going... and at around £700 per flight, the costs quickly mount up - it cost over £1.5m of donated funds last year for Warwickshire and Northants Air Ambulance.
Thank you for reading this far... and thank you if you are able to help in any way!
