hey guys,

need some help,  my head gasket has gone and i will be doin work myself ...want to know as much info as posible any problems i should be checking for and if anybody would have pics of job to make life easier would be much appreciated any special tools or tips .  any help will be very welcome and advice will also be doin the cam belt at same time and could also do with advice on this also.

time is not an issue just want to do work myself to save costs and to learn a new skill.

my disco is a 1999 300tdi.

broke it so put 1 1/2" lift on
broke it so put 265/75/16 grizzley claws on
broke it so put KnN filter in
broke it so put hyclone in
broke it so put wheel spacers on
broke it so put kenlowe on
broke it so put tubular winch bumper on
broke it so put snorkel on
broke it so put chequer plate on
broke it so put a 12000lb winch on
broke it so put a roof rack on

thanks for the link  im on the job  now....... doin the cam belt change p gasket change water pump gasket , head gasket change  :lol: and when done will be getting a skin graft on my knuckels... :rolleyes: also changing all exhaust gaskets as you would do anyway and have just made own egr blank plate .


anyone know how to get the damn fuel line of the block the one from the pump to injectors......been tryin to pull off damn thing wont budge :-#...any tips please or do i just break off and get new one! im trying not to strectch it or damage but not looking good. :shock:

I did a head gasket not long ago and had the same problem. make sure you have enogh then cut the end of. when you go to put it back on its very stif and dosent give much. just warm it up a bit with a lighter.
