Busy day today
« on: September 27, 2009, 19:00:02 »
Had a major service today, changed transfer box oil, diff oils, engine oils and both filters, fuel filter,  Replaced all four u/joints, topped up swivel housings, new rear pads and  Adjusted 1 wheel bearing.

The only thing i could not do was change the gearbox oil, i even brought some proper oil from the stealers   But i did not have a spanner large enough to fit the drain plug, all i know its over 30mm ( as i have one of those)   Can somebody tell me the size please ?? than i can finish the job off,

I am quite chuffed i nearly got it all done today, although spent a lot on parts ect, i have saved a load of bucks also

  P.S its a 51 reg TD5 90 CSW
TD5 with a few Tweaks ;o)

hi there cant remember  but im sure its 32mm but what ever size it is make sure you make a chute out of cardboard to direct oil into the drain tin and not all over the cross member and subsequently the floor!

and at this point I noticed the n/s air vent wasnt fully closed so lets not forget the mud stained interior and the water logged kenwood 6disc cd

will be doing that service myself this week, expect the gearbox oil - that got recent stealer MTF in it already, and did the tranny yesterday. Need to do one UJ on each prop. Swivel housing have got grease in ... thought yours would have had too! I got to change both vegoil and derv filters. K&N need a clean out of summer bugs, leafs and the odd baby chick.

Think it is 32mm like said, I used a shallow socket but there is barely room to crack it loose, a decent ring wrench would be better. My viscous fan spanner defo not man enough for the job and risked rounding or trashing spanner.

oh if we going down the cowboy route then I vouch for a hammer and cold chisel, same two tools can be used for wheel bearing hub nuts, steering drop arm, crank pulley....
