1st disco help needed

hi guys i am new to the site and forums and this is my first post so here goes.
i purchased myself a disco 1 200 tdi this morning and came to go out this evening but alas there were no head lights. i was wondering if the switch gets a feed from the bunch of wires behind the stereo as all these have been cut for a stereo to be removed. the flash part of the hi beam still works but not the constant part or the dipped. any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks.

is it just your headlights that dont work or the rears too? im sure that lifted disco had this problem recently with no headlamps and it turned out to be the relays IIRC but his is a 300 too
im sure he will be along soon enough to correct me lol

Hi
Welcome to the forum.
The 200's dont have lighting relays, the power comes from the fuse box, through the switch then to the head lights.
Have you checked the fuses and the bulbs ?
Also in the wiring loom that runs along the inside the drivers side wing is a couple of "fusable links" they are nicely hidden about 300mm from the brake servo.

my old 200 used to do that, it turned out to be the contacts in the switch were corroded, sourced one from the scrappys off a maestro which cured it

If you do have to get a new switch, consider upgrading the wiring to include relays like the 300TDI. These will give a much better light output as there'll be less voltage drop and it's not difficult to do - you just need a couple of relays, fuses, connectors and wire.
