Isn't the now traditional image of Santa dressed in red actually a Coca-Cola Marketing thing? And before this it was either blue or green?

I'm sure I've read that somewhere or is it an urban legend?

Don't bother. Shane is an embarrassment now, £2 at a local pub and might be worth it, £20 for a drunken fool to forget his words and fall off the stage... na.

Green before, red is coke.  Unfortunately not an urban legend.

I'm given to understand that he was seen in red before Coke started using him in adverts. They may have popularised the red outfit, but I've seen drawings dating from pre-Coke times showing Santa in red.

Yeah I Wiki'd it too  Seems there had been some red  outfits before hand but it was the popularity ofCoke-Cola's advertising campaign through the 1930's that seems to of standrdised him to the one we know nowadays.
