Hay guys specially the younger ones out there... what insurance companys have you been using for your 4x4 insurance?

who have you found best for price
and
who have you found best for service/what you get
?

could ya please let me know i would appreciate it

Adrian flux and Peter best were the ones I used for my disco when I had it. Still £350 3rd party F&T even with a few years NCB and being mid twenties. :twisted:

Have always sworn by NFU as they accept modifications etc without hassle and have alwys been around the right price...

This year though, I may well go to Franck Pickles www.frankpickles.co.uk as their price was about 30% cheaper! Want to check that I get like for like - by the way, they only do modded vehicles - rang about Niki's F2 and they wouldn't touch it!

im 22 and the best price i got was from adrian flux, fully comp with loads of perks, and even got discount for being on here!! :thumbup:

OK, I too am getting on a bit, but i've been driving on classic policies for most of the time, so I only have 3 years no claims.

Discovery 200TDi 1991, Winch and winch bumper, off road tyres, light bar all declared.

£161 a year fully comp! with MCE insurance

well i have a different story!
been with the NFU for 3 years. then started modifying my landy, the then said they woul;dnt cover it without an engineers report. so i moved. i WAS paying 1100£ / year comprehensive for the 90.

just recently moved to adrian flux, 600 incl all my modifications limited mileage 6k 3 years no claims and im 21.

Adrian Flux, poor service. What a surprise. My sister had her RR insured agreed value through AF a few years ago. When it got written off they only said they'd pay market value, which was fine except she was paying far more than I did at the time for a bigger car.

In the end though because she didn't accept the offer straight away they ended up paying her NOTHING!

I'll not be using them again, the policy is not worth the paper it's written on. My business alone is worth over £100 a year to them but I'd advise everyone else not to bother too.

Might as well not have insewerance and save the money for fixing the car myself. I hasten to add my business policy would cover driving my RR.

My renewal is due at end of month and more than were £398 for standard car! Just got a quote off frankpickles and it was £159 with all mods declared!!! :)

down side from key facts I found so far is..

No 3rd party cover on any car
only Market value for car

I can live with that tho as that don't include my ncb which I can use on my other car!

I'll give them a ring over agree value and see what out come is!

Hmmm. I got quoted 280 from a company called dna. With no mods declared. (Dont accept mods) And after that it was elephant at 490 with out mods. And with mods its like 680 for lift and winchbumper.

600 quid, fully comp, mods declared (3.9 V8, big tyres, lift, roof rack, winch and bumper, snorkle and CB) with adrian flux, im 21 and no no-claims as i am using it.

got mine from fluxes, standard td5 110 comercial, fully comp buisness use, worth 8 grand, £900 a year,was well happy with that as i was paying £1800 a year 3rd party for my rangie with nfu. and then after i sent them my proof of ncb they gave me a refund of £150 :dance:
before you get a quote from anywhere though get one from compare the market- its better if youve got an idea what you should be paying before you start phoning around.
did get good service from the nfu, when i started my rrc policy they converted my 3 years as a second driver into 3 years full no claims bonus, saving me a few hundred when i got the 110 :D

I am 24 years old, driving a p reg Frontera with an uncertified LPG conversion, doing 20000 miles a year - inc. commuting and business use. I have just renewed for £407 for the year (w/screen, personal accident, legal and breakdown - and covering laning AND offroading) with Adrian Flux.

I was paying £389 with none of that with 1st Central - not including laning or offroad.

I am just shopping around for cover on my 90.

When talking to Footman James, all was going well, with no issues with the modifiactions. But then she sked if it was going to be used off road. I answered, yes, but I wasn't expecting cover for that. She told me they couldn't quote then. If I used it off road it would invalidate the insurance.

So be careful, just because you aren't expecting to be covered for off road insurance doesn't mean it won't affect your policy!

I find it a bit strange, but she was very clear.

Also spoke to Sureterm. The guy I spoke to was very helpful. Advising the options on 4x4 insurance vs. a classic car policy. And also made suggestions about how to put a value on it, etc. Came back with £318 which seems reasonable given the modifications. He specifically said greenlaning was covered, but off-road use wasn't. He seemed quite clued up which makes a change!

Just looked at the Frank Pickles (isn't he a character in Vicar of Dibley??!!) and the words say all the right things. I'll give them a call in the morning :D

I find it increadible that a company who advertises in an off road magazine, will not quote for vehicles that are used off road!! I wonder what would happen if that was highlighted??

I tried the NFU and they are [!Expletive Deleted!], they refused cover as I "greenlane" I explained it was a legal road and pointed out they could not legal specify this, and the local manager just bottled it and said I would have to write to there head office so I told them to "stuff" it.

Road sure offer me a second policy where they don't take no claims into account and is only 240 quid with any modifications.

Well..... having spoken to a very helpful chap at Frank Pickles..... down to £155 with a much smaller excess! It pays to shop around.

Just waiting for NFU to get back to me. It seems the NFU varies depending on your local agent. The guy here was fine with all the mods and the fact it would get used off road.

But at the moment it looks like Mr Pickles will get my money :D

i think the nfu defeinatley depends on your office, when they insured my izuzu enginged rangie they wanted to know stuff i didnt know, went to the dvla etc to find out, quoted no problem, where as another office i tried wouldnt give me a quote because of age, even though i was already a customer :doh:

So, I'll be on the phone to Mr Pickles in the morning to give him some of my hard earned cash :D

This is what they said to me, but i said i didnt do the work, i bought the vehicle modified like this and they accepted the mot certificate as proof of road worthyness and safety etc.........
