little problem
« on: November 22, 2009, 18:26:58 »
went out today done a few lanes with me mate . . well all was going well until a knocking noise came from the front everytime i went over a bump . . it seems some how the shock has come out the holder as the springs have gone very spoungy . . so im hoping that noise is just the shocks knockin up and down on the axle . . .

then on my way home there was a rather loud klunk form the back and it was as though it was cathcing on something and then releasing itself but is only under drive . . . at 1st it was ok only did it a lil then i pressed the clutch down and it would stop for a bit . . then it wouldnt stop so had to pull over . . rang simon and he told me to try it in diff lock see if it drive . . . well managed to get it home driving in high range diff lock . . but i cant figure out wat the problem .  :'(

ANY HELP PLEASE GUYS AND GIRLS

Could well be a shaft in the axle, remove the drive flanges and pull the shafts out to see if they are complete, easier than starting by hauling the diff out!

well took the diff guard off and oil came pouring out . . . . well there is a little hole smashed out the bottom of the axle where the diff guard bolts over . . . so gota change the axle now . . . . just wondering . . .

is the diff the same front and rear becuase i got a spare front diff in the garage . . was just wondering if the transfer box does the directional gearing or if the diff does it . . . .

diffs are the same be they front or rear,  you can stick either into either axle and you will still go forwards

If you do need a complete axle (including casing) there's one on ebay for £100 and £60 post at the moment. I know as I was looking at half shafts again with a view to assembling a spare set.

Yeah, it does look to be a case of someone hoping to find a desperate buyer with that ebay £100 example!

Hey andy i might take you up on that if mike don't need it always handy for a spare just in case.

Might need to clear a bit of room for it though i got way too much crapo lying around :)
