series 2,swb,diff ratio??

hi,broke the rear diff sunday,play day,just taken it out 46 teeth  and 13 on the pinion ,planet gears all breaking up,am i right that this is a 3.5 diff,also what vehicle will i be able to get one from,is it disco ,range rover.??any advise appreciated,hoping to fix for sunday to go to whaddon,cheers dave..

Hi, If it is a 3.54 then one from an early Discovery/RRC will fit, just check the number of driveshaft splines is the same. :D

if you use a disco diff then you'll have to refill the oil thru the end of the axle tube if there's no filler plug in the diff pan, just jack the axle high one side and pull the halfshaft to fill a measured amount
it ain't broke ...

i ain't fixed it enough

Depending what yearof RRC you get, they either had fillers in the diff casing or the axle casing, diff casing are earlier and IIRC the imperial diff, the platform for the plug hole is still cast on later diffs but not used.
