Hay guys do any of you know where i can find and buy the illusive 9 finger glove to cover a v8's dizzy/dizzy cap. I know of it existence just can find one any where

There was someone a few years back who made these, wasn't there? Used to see them at the shows. But can't remember who it was. I'll tax the brain a bit more and try to recall.

I never had a real problem with my V8. I used good quality HT leads with nicely fitting rubber boots, then a tiny smear of grease around the bottom of the cap before fitting it. That worked pretty well. Then, I also used motorcycle chain grease, available in aerosol cans, sprayed over the cap and the ends of the leads. Never had any trouble ever again.

If you have electric fans, make sure you have an over ride switch so you can turn them off when wading. It stops the fans spraying water all over the electrics.

Can't remeber what it's called, but you can get a waterproofing spray. It leaves behind a thin plasi-coat, put your leads on, make sure that all moisture is out, then spray all over. Used to use the stuff on my crosser and it was supurb.

I thought sillicone sealer (like your bathroom stuff) was the way to go? (not so stikcy is permenent)

well thank you i have oreded one from him. so we shall see how it goes... hopefully wont need to put wd-40 on it now proberly pack it with grease :)

I did that - works really well until you come to swap the leads - what a sticky mess!!

I think i may be a tad late in replying :( I had a rubberised cap on my V8 disco, Worst thing i ever fitted, all it did was condensated up inside and caused a bigger misfire than before :lol:, As stated above, good quality leads, caps ect, and 2 breathers from the bottom of the dizzy housing. and yes a good lasing of antiwater spray type solution, worked a treat for me :dance:

Wd40 will disintegrate the blue covers turning them into sticky mush

It was someone called www.tufftoys4x4.co.uk. Don't seem to be around any more though. They aren't very durable as the others have mentioned, black outdoor frame sealant from the likes of Screwfix is just as good.

I rember some one using half a coke bottle, can't rebmer which size but one fits over cap snug then has 8/10 bumps in the bottom to put leads up through. Dose then need some sealling up.

Can then use the other half for the coil.

I saw one on E-ABy yesterday. Mine's in the bin though, it rotted very quickly.

Yup. They are in most shops. Tesco, local corner shop etc and cost about 90p. They are usually on display as Marrigolds or washing up gloves. Normally come in yellow. :lol:

Chop the finger tips off, shove cables through top of fingers, cable tie the tops closed around the cable, cable tie the wrist bit over the cap. You will even have a finger spare. Jobs a gooden and lasts for about a year before perishing.

V8- 8 plug leads and 1 coil lead = 9

Great idea for a 4 cyl tho ;)

they come in packs of 2 so 2 5 fingered gloves = 1 finger spare. :-)

Slightly lateral view - but I know of a chap who swears by Chain Wax...available from any motorcycle shop.

He was running a V8 bobtail for ages and it seemed to go through anything... time after time after time...

I use white grease if I have to. I found it more reliable than the glove which will eventually leak and then becomes more toruble than it's worth.

If you really need that much sealing then you have to worry about the bottom of the dizzy and the seal around the cap before worrying about water washing inside the cpas on each lead.

Buy decent leads, grease or waxoil them, fit a splashgaurd made from a drinks bottle, don't drive through water like a hooligan. Works for me.
