pajero with problem but cheap. should i?
« on: January 12, 2010, 18:42:05 »
right. a friend of mine has a pajero and after not seeing him drive around in it for a while i asked him where it was and he said.
"the auto transmission is leaking and i have neither the time, money or inclination to fix it."

now he wants a hundred quid for it which sounded interesting. its a 92 and has just come out of its mot.

my question is, what does he mean by auto transmission leaking and what would need to be done to fix it, and also what sort of money it would cost. come to think of it thats 3 questions.....

anyways can i have some opinions/info please.

cheers

russ

If you search around you could pick up an 2.5 swb for as little as £500 with MOT and fully working.

@£100 thats cheap as a car for spares, it could just be a new gasket it needs, or it could be a new cooler, torque converter, gearbox , transfer box.

Then you have to start sourcing parts, new would be out of the question, are you competent enough to find the fault and fix it?

Unless you can find where the leak is coming from, before you buy, i think i would steer well clear.
1995 300tdi 90 rebuilt and on the road (but still a project)
1992 Pajero SWB 2.5 Auto (failed its MOT and for sale if you want it)
