Shims-How to use?

I know there to space out components, but how do you put them back on? im guessing lightly oil and reassemble?
Iv replaced the speedo drive housing on a series box and got to reassemble now and just thought id check! don't want any extra oil leaks!

Any ideas? to oil or not to oil that is the question!

The factory ones in the RRC swivles look like they went in dry.  If there is no gasket as such though you might want ot use a silicone gasket compound to fill in the gaps.

Phoned a Mechanic mate in the end, They went in with a light smear of grease.
