I too was really looking forward to it....

I studied Douglas Adams for my A-levels when all other people who had to choose Novelists chose dead people (Douglas Adams wasn't dead when I was 17....!) that had written boring thick books (and you had to read 3!).

I loved it - nothing better than being the last person to choose, asking "they don't *HAVE* to be dead to they?", and being told "of course not!". I wasn't popular :-)

Got an "A" too :-) (although much to the horror of my tutors I got a B in language...and an A in literature (which includes language!) <giggle>)

Hmmmm Time will tell

I'll wait to see it myself before I pass judgement, have found in the past films that were raved about were pants and others that were thought to be pants by Critics quite good !

Just started reading Hitch Hikers Guide again, and will see the film

Stephen Fry as the narrator and Alan (demigod) Rickman as Marvin....

Thats already a got to see IMHO

After reading whats been said,  I think I'll just read the books and watch the video.

Why do they let this sort of thing happen.

Its like the movie Jaws, the film is brillant ,but the book is much better and has a different ending.

Movie remakes are my pet hate, can't think of a remake that is anyway near as good as the original.
Cheers.

Will wait to see it before forming any opnion. Just shows you these film makers cant come up with any new idea so they have to try to recreate old classics-  WHICH SHOULD BE LEFT WELL ALONE.

We'll see
