hi all i fancy putting a v8 in my project series 3 what box would i need  is it a massive undertaking
series 3

You have a choice,buy a conversion plate to fit the v8 to the series box or a defender 5 speed box if you want to go that way or the cheapest option is buy a good running v8 disco  and use that box but you will have to move the engine forward to allow for the longer bell housing,but you get the 5 speed threw in.A conversion plate will cost you new around £300 -£450 ish. You can buy them second hand but for some reason people never include the fly wheel which you need because it has to be redrilled to take the smaller clutch.
