Just a quick question, can you pack a multi pin socket with grease to stop any water getting in? or is this a no no?

Yes but use, ideally, electrical grease or petrolium jelly.

i use vaseline,it wont short out with that stuff,and then put something like an old rubber glove over it or something,to stop the grit gettin in :dance:

Thanks guys, perfect advice, I used vaseline and packed as much in as I could...... every thing now works now!
