Bleeding BA
« on: May 10, 2010, 18:33:54 »
Good old BA are striking again, Bank holiday and half term included.

Annoying thing is that I have flights booked with American Airlines from Manchester to Heathrow and then on to Chicago. Trouble is that AA are using a BA flight to get us to Heathrow, so surely they are contractually obliged to get us to Heathrow as I didn't book a BA flight and I paid my money to AA.

Yeah, you should be ok, at the worst you might have to make your own way to Heathrow and then claim the costs back from AA who in return will claim it back from BA.

Call AA. You may well find yourself stuck at Heathrow if you turn up unannounced expecting boarding
passes. There are strict rules regarding where you can board multi-flight journeys. If you miss a leg
of a journey, you forfeit all other legs.

Well AA are washing their hands of the situation, they say if my flight with BA is cancelled they will refund me that part but it is up to me to find a way to Heathrow under my own steam. Last time I fly with this bunch of T**ts  :x :x :x :x

Depending upon how much luggage you're taking don't forget that some places such as FlyBE will do reasonably priced internal flights,  Leeds to Soton for example is about £50 including taxes ...

Should you be able to get a flight into heathrow, or even just nearby it'd likely be a lot cheaper and easier for you.

From the americanairlines.co.uk T&C's

New one on me. Seems that code-sharing ain't worth anything.

Yep but until it is officially cancelled by BA then AA will not allow a cancellation or refund. They are going to let me know one way or the other on the 1st of June.

Charming.  Does that give you enough time to make alternative arrangements?

Yes mate, plenty of time as I can cancel my Manchester Airport parking with 48 hours notice and there are plenty of parking and hotel packages available at Heathrow. Just didn't fancy driving down to Heathrow but if that's the only way then I"ll have to do it.
