Water leak
« on: May 10, 2010, 22:01:41 »
The other week i found my boot carpet was soaked so i removed all the carpets and dried them, removed the 2 top windows and re fitted them with silicone, only to go out tonight and the carpet is wet again.
any ideas where the watter could be comming in now?? you can see it had been running down the trim and out through the rear speaker.

Cheers

Rob

Rust at a body joint or around the sunroof and runing around the edge of the roof.  Start by looking for pinhole corrosion around the gutter.

Got an idear where the water is coming in. i have removed the trim round the top window and found the leek, constant drip from between two bits of metal that are welded together.
The next problem is trying to find where the water is coming in i have one thought of where i had my gutter mount the screws where tightened through the sealant.

cheers Rob

found the leak !!!

Where my gutter mounted Cb areal is fitted it has caused the sealant in the gutter to crack round the edges, so pulled about 2ft of sealant out and re sealed and seems OK now.
