i have used britpart hd clutch kits on both 200tdi and 300tdi both work perfectly good but noticed a small rattle from the release barring when cold on both but goes when the clutch is pressed or when it warms up, never caused a problem tho

Do not fit the Britpart clutch, it'll only cause you considerable pain! In general I won't use their branded parts as the quality is terrible. Try an allegedly heavy duty spring which went soggy in six months on a truck which hadn't had any heavy loads in that time...

I forget who the OEM clutch supplier was, but it's worth finding out. The original on mine lasted 121k, including dragging caravans and towing people out of mud holes with a dead rope (snatch recovery not an option, had to take up slack and then give it some beans from a standing start).

I asked for a heavy duty clutch on mine when I took it in to the local specialist earlier this year, I assume he fitted something decent. There's a bit of judder on take-up but I've put that down to bedding the clutch in, it doesn't happen if I give it a bit more right foot when pulling away (as opposed to trying to roll away at tickover).
1996 Discovery 300TDI. She's got it where it counts...

the oe clutch is aparently valeo, seems everyone has a differnt opinion of britpart personaly ive never had a problem with anything from them. I was also told that the millitary use britpart HD clutches.

The juddering may be down to a worn crank oil seal, mine did the same and when i took the gearbox off there was alot of oil in the bell houseing.

DONT EVER USE A BRITPART CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes i have a reason to say this
firstly my dad has a 200 disco his clutch fork went so he put a whole new britpart clutch in, lasted 80 miles then the strangest thing happened the big thick metal plate inside there snapped  so i took it back to paddocks and got so much abuse off their staff...

never use paddocks or britpart

my 90 is a 200 and i replaced the engine last year and put a new britpart clutch in just because, new fork  bearing aswell,
well at easter this year, the clutch fork went through and when i took it apart the bearing was knackered

britpart is not only useless it is dangerous aswell

Ive never had a problem with britpart, most of the parts ive bought are from them and they generaly turn up quickly, fit well and are good value, and ive never been sent a wrong part.

Ive decided to go down the britpart clutch route because if i dont try i wont know, and ive read alot about people having problems with more expensive brands.

what metal plate broke?

ouch dear me, good luck

interestly enough paddocks insisted i had abused it [ considering it wasnt my vehicle or clutch as they hadnt noticed i had turned up in my vehicle ] annoyed me a little as we had only driven to my student house and back 80 miles,

some people stick by britpart, and too be honest before this year i swore by them but never again, total rubbish they sell

glad to hear your gearbox all went ok  :)
