Motorway sign tells it like it is...
« on: April 20, 2005, 19:59:54 »
 Today whilst travelling back from Liverpool on the M62, i was shocked to see the big illuminated signs saying. "PLEASE DONT HOG THE MIDDLE LANE". I thought it was a windup at first and made me laugh but the next 2 signs had the same message on them in bright lights...  :D  To say anyone took any notice, No they didnt loads of cars just bairly doing 60 in the middle lane, dam anoyying when they wont overtake arttics etc and before you know it, youve got yourself a convoy. Then when they finnaly pull into the inside lane leaveing me in front of the que. When other drivers pass me they think it was i who was holding the traffic up and give me dirty looks.  Anyway thats my little rant over, for now.... theres always tomorrow.
If in first you dont suceed, try second....
If it aint broke, your not trying ard enough....

try driving in the inside lane in a small car. now that is dangerous. my polo sometimes gets stuck in teh ruts left by lorries, and suddenly i have very little control over my car.
ok, so i spend most of my time in the outside lane, cursing at slower people in front, but i think that the motorways should be properly maintained before expecting people to use the inside lane.

A bloke in a car did this years ago in the north of England across the front of my mates coach - he didnt survive to do it again. Still makes me cringe when I see someone doing this

I'm surprised I havent seen you on the M62, I am probably in Leeds 2 or 3 times a week most weeks

And yes, they dont half push it dont they. he worse turn offs are the M601 and the M621 where they leave it right to the last second.

Mind you, if the traffic flowed better, then the drivers wouldnt be in such a rush.... not an excuse I know

 I know what you mean about the M621, its a lottery some days dodgeing these idiots. But your right about the traffic flow, if it flowed better we woudnt have this problem, this goes back to people hogging the middle lane slowing traffic down in the first place. Then when there out of the way everyone makes a dash for it till the next time, causeing a concentener effect stop start, stop start drives me mad.

Down in Leicestershire a few years ago, they had overhead gantrys, with speed cameras on, they were checking speeds then flashing up a couple of hundred yards later the vehicle reg and speed. All them red brake lights coming on, magic!

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40
