camel rear bumper tow point?
« on: May 31, 2010, 14:59:07 »
where can i get one of the brackets that bolt onto the rear chassis crossmember, that give a vertical face to mount a pintle to?

they are the same as the ones used on camel cars and bolt onto the top and bottom of the crossmember using the same holes as the tow bar you then refit the bumper and trim out a section to reveal the holes to bolt the pintle to.

i think i saw some on a trade stand at driffield but i didn't really register what they were till now or who was selling them and i can't seem to find them on the net.

any help would be welcome, cheers.

niether of those sorry. the one i saw was a c section with the open ends bent to match the angle of the crossmember with the flat side drilled to take the bolts for a pintle.

Aren't the bolts the standard M16 (is that the right size?) used on a standard 50mm ball?

Any normal drop-plate should do.
(Failing that, get a Pin'n'Ball : http://www.towequipe.co.uk/1/1/46314-witter-type-jaw-pin-tow-ball-coupling-trailer-4-ton.html or any of the 1,234 variations)

Heavy duty rear bumpers use this type of bracket to bolt onto the rear of the chassis - might be worth trying the manufacturers/suppliers of these?
The bracket used on Camel Disco's was a one off factory made unit with a cut out in the standard rear bumper and more than likely to be rarer than hen's teeth to get hold of, unless you know someone breaking a Camel Disco?

if these were factory fitted then one assumes they will have a part number. we get a step closer, cheers chris.

I'd be surprised to find a part number, mind you, some of the Camel accessroies are included in Rave so you never know!
