been right round the blasted thing today and can say that i hate the bloody thing

Mr truck driver! you driving an inch off my rear bumper does nothing to speed me up or get out your way in fact it even encourages me to drive at 55-57 just so your limiter cuts in and out and slow down on hills just to annoy you. I have driven trucks so i know it does

those of you driving small cars this does not allow you to dive in and out of the lanes cos you think its quicker cutting me up then blaming me for being in your way! Gits

Dartford toll now classes a twincab pickup as a commercial  my boss got caught in the chuck a pound in the box lane much to his disgust :D and made to pay the extra

Speaking of the Dartford Crossing.  I'm responsible for all the CCTV, toll monitoring, ventilation control (for the tunnels), site security and traffic management systems.   :D

Well not just me, but I was part of a 4 man team that did most of that.  I miss my days working at DRC as a contractor.

i had them fitted to 10 vehicles when i was a service manager for a company, it cuts timesheet fraud in one stroke.
one of my engineers who was always late in one day told me he was involved in a pile up and got stuck in the traffic etc thats why he was late, when i showed him on the tracker he was late because he didnt leave home until 20 past 8 and gave him a warning he shut up and was in at 7.55 every day on the dot  made me chuckle

we have GPS tracking for "data" reasons only on our trucks.
A walkers crisp packet (the new foil ones) over the antiener blocks the signal.
Not that i do it you understand!!

I work for a company that installs and monitors trackers mainly for the military and defence use as we a have some other systems as well.

Out of interest do you know who is providing the tracker and what make it is?

We fit trackers to ANC (the couriers) vehicles, two of the drivers walked off the job when our engineer turned up.

I know exactly how to get around them.

The drivers conveniently store cleaning fluid and drink bottles on the tracker behind the drivers seat which leak. Coke doesn’t do em any good what so ever.

A company I used to work for had them fitted to the service vans.......

Reason being so thye could send the nearest van to the new jobs.......

The bosses said they would never spy on the vans.........even put it in pen & ink.
Service van drivers were allowed to use the vans in "non-work" time as  long as you didn't take teh p***.

So it goes

Week one trackers fitted
Week two  bosses suspend 5 drivers
Week three  bosses fire 3 drivers using tracker evidence,2 still on suspension
week four  I leave in disgust at trackers being fitted in my truck
Week five 15 drivers walk out
week six  bosses begging for staff to return....(they are losing money / customers)
week seven trackers removed
week eight  out of 15 driver only 6 returned

STICK TOGETHER to beat the system

I also used to use them to direct vans to the next job as we had a couple of scenarios where vans passed each other on the way to jobs, they were also good when engineers couldnt find the job and needed directions etc.
The thing is if your doing your job as you should be why are worry about having a tracker in? if your taking the p..s and finishing early and not telling anyone then collecting the pay then expect to have a problem!

i only had a problem with one guy who thought he would try it on all the rest of my guys were spot on, its give and take. the only big problem was with the sales manager and one of the salesmen they kicked up about it big time, turns out they were running their own companies on the side behind the bosses back using company vehicles fuel etc.

i was a mobile engineer before i got the managers job so i knew all the cons and tricks that could be used any way
