hi, simple question which doubtless is not really, you know what i'm like.
would a 235/70 tyre fit on a 5.5j rim without being dangerous or an mot fail?
cheers all.

It will physically fit, but it's a little over size for that width of rim. The 235 is effectively 9.25". It would sit better on a 7" rim.
I don't believe it can fail an MOT for being oversize for the rim, but I stand to be corrected!

i do have a set of j7's but they have my 750's on which is yet another expense to have them put onto the thiner rims. i may have to look out for some on rims already.

Swap the tyres yourself. If you've a highlift jack it's dead easy (really !!)
I can do a normal 4x4 tyre in about 5 minutes from off to back on. A mog tyre takes about 15 minutes but they are a little thicker on the sidewall ;)
