Will an ARB 110 roof-rack fit the Disco?
« on: August 01, 2010, 16:56:10 »
as per the title, will this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220641792476&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT fit a Discovery 300 TDI?

The length may be a bit of an issue, but i am more concerned about the roof height clearance?

Cheers

Just been out and measured my Rack Andy and its 230cm from front to back so the over hang is next to nothing so i guess it just depends on where the mounting legs are placed  :D

Infact its a bit Bigger than 230cm

What about the width?

As far as i am aware, the disco is slightly wider than a defender (90/110) but the brackets can be squeezed out a bit to fit.

I missed it in the end anyway, so not such an issue now, until the next one.

I ask because my mate bought a Defender roof rack and all the mounts had to be repositioned, it's about an inch either side.

Well as a guestimate, look how much Defender wheels stick out form the bodywork compared to how far under Standard Disco wheels would be, the axles are the same width so the difference is the body.

It's my Disco RRB is talking about and the legs refused to bend far enough without a cut, then it left huge gaps to be welded back up, so in the end the legs were bolted to the outside of the frame which made it just about millimeter perfect width.

The rack is made of 3/4" box section so the disco would be 1.5" smaller overall.

Mine was the full length of a 110 defender so also needed a section chopping out of the middle or it just looked plain stupid.

Or it will when it's 100% finished instead of 85%
