« on: August 22, 2010, 12:26:23 »
Hi all ,does anyone know wether Tommys Farm in Rhayader North Wales is still open? Went there a few years ago,had a great time, have heard some rumours and seen comments on the net about it being closed. If anyone knows for sure what the state of play is i would be grateful.
Many Thanks
Nige

It's Mid Wales, not North, but...

Tom's Farm has never been officially sanctioned as a P&P, it has none of the required insurance or planning permissions and those using it run the risk of having their vehicles impounded. There don't seem to be any rules or marshals at all, as a result a significant hooligan element hammer around like Mad Max. There have been numerous official orders that it be shut, which have been ignored.

Mid Wales could really use a good P&P site, but it needs to be properly run. I'm not talking health and safety gone mad, just things like scrutineering, marshals, some common sense rules and a first aid post. All the things you'd organise for a large club event.

The owner is currently awaiting sentencing following prosecution for ignoring a Planning Notice about running a motorsport centre without Planning Permission.
Sect 59 Notices have been issued over illegal access onto Forestry Commission land.

You take your own risks accessing the site.

I didn't know Tuff Terrains did "open to all" P&P days? I thought they were only open to organised events and to run driver training courses?

Not sure if they are open to all, i think it's more a case of being in an organized club and booking the site for a day. The only way to find out is to phone and ask i suppose.

This is correct. It is NOT a p&p. It is driver training and only organised by clubs who are regulars.
