ZF Auto - Petrol same as diesel??

Does anyone know if the ZF in the V8 is the same as the one in the tdi?

I think its just the torque convertor thats different but I need to know as mine blew up at weekend towing the hybrid back from Husbands Bosworth  

Ive got two spare V8 ones so Im hoping they are the same, juts different torque convertors  :D

I'm lead to believe that the v8 has a different bell housing and the output shaft if bigger than the tdi box.

Let me know if it turns out different as i'm looking for a zf box for my tdi 90

Thankfully the gear box failure was just down to a loose pipe on top of the box.

The tdi is certainly a different bell housing but I dont know about the input shaft.  Having several V8 autos and only one Tdi, when I take the box out I'll let you know mate.

Hopefully it will be a while before the box comes out!!!!!  :D
