If you intend to drive through Spain be aware that around Madrid there are some characters that are imitating their Police, that pick on lone forign vehicles. they will pull along side you in a plain car then attract your attention and show you a warrant card DO NOT PULL UP FOR THEM KEEP GOING IF THEY ARE GENUINE THEY WILL CALL FOR ONE OR MORE MARKED CARS TO STOP YOU ........IF THEY DO MANAGE TO STOP YOU KEEP ALL DOORS LOCKED AND WINDOWS SHUT AND TELL THEM YOU WILL FOLLOW THEM TO A POLICE STATION THROUGH A CLOSED !!!!!!!!!!!WINDOW AND DONT BE AFRAID TO STOP A MARKED POLICE CAR IF IN DOUBT WHILST FOLLOWING THEM they are from the shanty town and are currently making a mint out of dopey guliable forigners so dont be one of their statistics  :!:

This one comes up in Iran as well, but I think they're much more half-hearted about it and don't get away with it often.  The golden rule there is - never give them any paperwork and ask to be taken to a police station.

No, Iran's nothing like that.  It's safer than most European countries, if anything.  The Iranians are as nice a bunch of people as you could ever expect to meet.  They just have an oppressive government.

The French have been doing this for years too, that and gassing you in your camper so they can nick all your stuff.

never found anything like that in france. it may be because i took the old dico over and they thought twice on that old shed off mine. might do on the new will have to let you know when i go over.

Take it from a Spaniard, if the police in Spain want to stop you in an unmarked car, they will definitely have one of those neon signs on top of the parcel shelf, plus they will not object if you ask to have a marked vehicle present before you step out of your vehicle.
