Help starting engine on a pallet

just brought an engine, wanted to find out if its a runner before i put it in the truck, what do i need to do other than fuel to get it started, any help much appreciated
300tdi disco,2'' lift, flexi arches, steering guard, diff guards,straight through exhaust to cherry bomb, insa turbo dakars, light bar, mushroom snorkel, cb radio, 2 black and blue cobra bucket seats,. . . so far :D #cumbucket

yer :)... i think lol its got the bit you can rev it up in the engine bay im presuming thats cable

It will be an utter waste of time unless you are prepared to connect the full exhaust system. you will not be able to hear any knocking or other faults as you will be deaf.

all i want to know is if it run or not, just dont want to put it in the disco to find out it dosent

As its a simple tdi, you need 12v on the solenoid on the fuel pump,   and 12v to the starter motor to start it. Dont run it for more than 30 secs with coolant as you risk doing serious damage

If it's got oil in it you could do a compression test usinga good battery, that doesn't mean starting it but don't use a petrol compression tester.
