Disco 1 radio wiring help please
« on: August 04, 2012, 23:56:51 »
Hi All
I have just bought a 1997 jap inport disco, the radio in it is working ok but i want to remove it and fit a new one with my hands free kit. The problem i have found is there are 2 plugs which look like iso conectors and they will fit in the new radio but it wont work! one plug seems to be the power plug which seems to be ok but the other plug is remote controlls. There is a 3rd pink plug which is for the speakers but that is bigger and wont fit anything!! I have tried wiring a pair of the wires out of that plug into my head unit but with the radio on (playing cd) there is no sound with ignition off it cones on with ignition on but when it is running it is just a buzz.
This is really confusing me now all other discos i have seen have just had a standard iso.
Thanks Rob

Have a look on autoleads web page they might have an adapter?

sorted it at last, found there was a amp under the dash, ripped that out and extended the speaker wires up to the radio and fitted a iso plug. Now the hands free kit and radio just plugs in. Didn't bother to wire the sub in tho.
