Engines on the way out
« on: September 22, 2013, 17:10:02 »
Hi All
My J reg 200Tdi 110 is lacking in guts on hills etc. I am thinking of replacing the engine over winter. my question is what to put in it.
I have a 300Tdi Disco engine that is good (just needs removing from Disco)
I am also toying with the idea of dropping a V8 in to her. I know the 300tdi will mate up to the gearbox but i guess the v8 wont.

What options have i got, I'm not to fussed on fuel economy and can get the v8 gassed. I need a bit more pulling power to run the 35's on long hills (or any hill tbh)

regards

300 ain't that much stronger than 200 for torque output.  An 8 will be stronger  but with 35s you run the risk of developing an axle eating habit. That said I would have an 8 but I'm a bit of a fan of the noise.

I would go with the 300 and drop the rubber to 33s.
