Damed Seagulls!!
« on: May 11, 2005, 00:13:28 »
Nice day up here today and I finished Nights this morning so only one thing for it...............Fishing!!  :D

Got the Disco loaded and away out to one of the Lochs in the centre of the island, on a single track road. A flock of seagulls (not the group, before anyone makes any wise-cracks  ) had decided that the road would be a good place for a rest.
As I approached they took off but one of them seemed confused as to where the others were off to and took its time. Then it looked round, saw the Disco, mad flapping of wings but....................
too late, one Safari Snorkel intake up the @ss!! :?

I saw it fly off with a strange look on its face, understandable after being rear-ended by a snorkel I suppose.

Got to the loch and had a look at the top of the snorkel, Seagull whats-it all over it, the roof, and the roofrack (again, understandable).
Now I need a new grill on the intake and will have to take the downpipe apart to findout where the rest of the grill has gone!!   :?

And I didn't catch any fish!! Well, there's alway tomorrow. :P

It could be worse - YOU could have been that seagull

Talking of snorkels saw a Maverick today which had the intake FACING the windscreen - might be an idea to protect seagulls' bums in the future.

I normally have the top facing backwards when off-road, but you don't expect that sort of thing on the road!!  :D

Anyway, it's not that I didn't slow down or anything and it looked like they would all get out of the way in time. It was lucky for the gull that it hit the snorkel and not the corner of the roofrack!  :?
