i bet you know what i mean,
Quote from: "barmiebrumie"i bet you know what i mean, Sort of. SWMBO blames the off roading and general use I give the car for anything that goes wrong . . . . . :(
it happened to me the engine has a fail safe though.! it cuts out and did not let me re start for 15 mins on restart it did not sound correct so a quick turn off and off with the sump to see a bolt hanging out of the pump put back in and hay presto one saved engine, and its done 15000 miles since then, how lucky was that...?
Yes it is the oil pump bolt. Some (and LR can't say how many) did not have sufficient, or any, threadlok applied when they were fitted. End result is that they work loose and the sprocket that drives the oil pump comes off etc.If you are at all worried about it then I would have to say (as I'm now going through the hassle of getting it sorted), with hindsight, that it would have been worth the couple hours labour to get it checked.
I know mine's a later car, but maybe I'd better drop the sump and have a look before it gets expensive ... :(
