Obvious thing first - has the transfer box slipped into neutral?

When you say stuck in neutral, does the lever physically not move into the gears, or does the lever go and the box do nothing?

Are the prop shafts still there?  :?

Have you tried engaging diff lock in case the gears are there but it's a drive issue?

OK, if it works in diff lock then that means your gearbox is fine, but something in the centre diff or the transmission between the centre diff and the wheels is faulty.

With the car suitably restrained (eg nose against a wall), get somebody to put it in gear (diff lock off) and have a look at what is happening underneath at the prop shafts (the shafts that run from the central transfer box / diff to the differentials on the front and rear axles).  Either one prop shaft will be turning - in which case you have bust a diff or a half shaft (the shaft leading from the axle diff to the hub, inside the axle) - or neither will be turning, in which case it's the centre diff which is at fault, and for some reason it's not transmitting power to one of the prop shafts.

(When you put diff lock in, you force the centre diff to put power to both prop shafts independently, so if the centre diff or the transmission to one axle is faulty, you'll still get power to the other one, and hence the truck will move.)

Well most garages are unlikely to have a shot TD5 diff lying about to grab and BS their way through with.....its worth a shot!
