Ive been running my 200Tdi Disco on it for a while now. I hae also noticed how much quiter it is. Especially cruising on the motorway.

Peronally i think it runs better, than on diesel altogether.

Currently 80P a litre in Rye East Sussex.

As of 1st July you can legally put up to 2500Litres of veg oil into your tank and not pay any duty on it. So that means we can walk into a supermarket, buy veg oil, go in the car park and put it directly into your tank and not be done for not paying tax on it :) bring it on!!!

If you find a free source of used veg oil and filter it youself your laughing even more then! Free fuel! :D

I cant wait.

what ever you do dont put sunflower oil in. big no no.

In the "summer" you can put a mix of up to 50% in the diesel tank and in the winter put 25% oil-75% diesel. It is because the oil thickens up when it gets cold so you need more diesel to thin it up.

I have just seen an old top gear clip and they put 3ml of white spirit into every 97ml of oil. No need to do this as far as I know but i cant see it would do any harm.

Best person to ask about all this is Dr Ed Thats his user name on here and he is a dr in making various potion go poof in a lab!!

By the way. If you buy an veg oil before 1st July for using instead of diesel, you have to register yourself and pay tax as your buying it for the intent of using for road going vehicle fuel. even if you dont put it in your landy until 1st july. How anyone will know if your buying it for that purpose I wont know!? Just thought I would warn you though.

i have a small supply of used oil which is still clear ie not dark drown or black
so all i need now is a filter for it before i put it in the disco
anyone got any idea what i can use to filter it
so far i have used a beer makers filter but think i need a 200 micron type

so i will get free fuel 8)  8)

best way to filter it is 2 buckets, 1 larger than the other. drill small holes in the small bucket and sit in top of big bucket. put builders sand into top bucket and poor oil ontop of sand. that will filter it through nicely for you. you will have to scrape the ickness off the top though and dispose at your local tip.

dont put the oil in your car before july 1st unless you wish to pay tax on it!

as far as i am aware the answer to that is no. I think the rule is if the engine is a common rail one it is a no but I may have that TOTAL wrong!

do any of you guys use a twin tank system at all, as i was lurking around the scrap yard searching for bits and bobs.

or the other way muddyjames as im not keen on the sand bit of it ,

to get a nice big barrel and a filter sock, and let the used oil rest for 4 weeks then syphon the oil off the top and through the sock, and you have oil you can use str8 in ya tank..
